Group Creates XMLexchange.org to Promote e-Services
November 13th, 2008
XMLexchange.org is a consortium which will develop the use of XML technologies in Internet exchanges and business services. The organization will promote vendor-developed standards along with those developed by the consortium.
XMLexchange.org is focussed on Internet services that utilize real-time networks to provide "on-demand financial, shipping, logistical, business intelligence, content management, customer service and marketing services to Internet exchanges and business services." Part of the plan for XMLexchange.org is to create a repository of XML Data Type Definitions (DTDs) which describe real-time services that will be accessible through XML documents.
The contents of the XMLexchange.org repository will be contributed by companies that provide new methods of servicing business functions. The repository project will hold and describe the e-services that are available on the Web, enabling developers to find and compare specific XML DTDs. The technical committee at XMLexchange.org will review submissions and add those with any legitimate technology to the repository.
Charter members of XMLexchange.org include Calico Commerce, DemandLine, DigitalWork, HomeBid.com, Instill Corp., iVendor, Keenan Vision, Kinzan, Moai, Navant, NetLedger, OAG, Oracle Corporation, salesforce.com, Sun/Netscape Alliance, Works.com and XML.org.
Membership in XMLexchange.org is open to all information technology vendors. For membership requirements, or additional information, visit the xmlexchange.org Web site.
